What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique of healing for all parts of our being (physical, mental and spiritual). The word Reiki is made up of two separate Japanese words, Rei & Ki. Rei means supernatural force or intelligence and Ki means life force energy or vapour, a non-physical energy with the ability to permeate all living things, it animates all. This is because it goes to whatever area needs it in the total makeup of the person receiving it, and will deliver to that area the right amount of energy needed without guidance from the therapist. The therapist simply acts as a channel for the healing energy, assisting the client on their own healing journey.
Reiki helps reduce stress by promoting deep relaxation of the body and mind so the recipient’s natural healing and recuperative powers are supported.
Stress is a significant factor in 60-70% of illness (D.D. Clark,MD/BMA (website)
The discipline and practice of Reiki was rediscovered by the Japanese scholar and mystic, Mikao Usui.
How does Reiki work?
The
energetic transmission leaves the therapists hands, drawn by the clients
unconscious
knowledge
of his or her greatest needs, at
whatever
level.
The Reiki treatment is always undertaken with the client either in a seated or lying position, fully clothed and with the clients permission.
The
Therapist will work with hands-on or hands-off, depending on the clients
preference.
The outcome is determined by Karma and the individuals commitment to making changes.
Healing happens when the time is right for the individual.
The Reiki therapist does not prescribe substances, diagnose ailments or practise medicine. Reiki is not regarded as a substitute for medical treatment.
Each Reiki treatment is a unique experience.
Can Reiki Help ?
This
form of healing is offered for any illness or disturbance and has no side
effects or any requirements of
belief. It is
independent of distinction of race, sex, age, class or religion.
Reiki
promotes personal growth with health supportive characteristics which can bring
about change in life through personal transformation.
Reiki can improve the clients emotional life through relaxation in such a way that deeply held, debilitating emotions can be released so that the naturally occurring primary emotions of confidence , love and joy can be expressed.
The Reiki Symbols
Reiki symbols are sacred healing symbols which enhance the flow of Life Force Energy. They are like keys that open doors to higher levels of awareness and manifestation.
Reiki symbols are Sanskrit-derived Japanese forms. Sanskrit is the mother-tongue of all other languages. It is the language of the Vedas, the oldest writings known to man. The Vedas say that Sanskrit is the language of the spirit world.
Reiki symbols are shown to the student prior to being attuned, and an imprinting takes place that links the image they are shown to the metaphysical energies the symbol represents. Then the Reiki attunement actually empowers the symbols so that they fulfil their intended purpose. This process has been created by a Divine covenant or sacred agreement between the Creator and those who have been attuned.
The symbols have their own consciousness, and it is possible to meditate on them and receive guidance on how to use them directly from the symbols themselves.

Sei He Ki
This symbol is
used for mental and emotional healing, protection, purification, clearing and
balancing. It works with the cause of the disease, which is often hidden in the
subconscious mind (the emotional body) and/or the conscious mind (the mental
body). When the body manifests disease, it is often attempting to deliver a
message that there is something that needs tending, that needs attention within
the mental or emotional patterns we carry. The mental and emotional
healing symbol balances the right and left brain. Is especially helpful for healing relationship problems and the issues that stem from them. Is used for any sort of emotional or mental distress such as nervousness, fear, depression, anger, sadness, etc. Can enhance one's memory, as it connects with the subconscious mind, where all memories are stored. Can be used to enhance the effectiveness of affirmations, causing them to enter more deeply into the subconscious and manifest the results you desire more quickly. Is used to purify food or water, or to clear a room of negative energy, followed by the power symbol. If, during a treatment, a person begins an emotional release, use this symbol to assist in drawing it out and clearing it. |
